“Saw IV” Rips Into The Box Office
It’s Halloween and movie fans opted for horror this past weekend putting “Saw IV” on top of the box office list. The Twisted Pictures film debuted at $32.1 million domestically making it the biggest opening of the fall season.
According to Steve Rothenberg, Lionsgate distribution executive:
“Horror is still alive and well. ‘Saw’ fans have proven their loyalty to the franchise once again by giving it the biggest opening of the fall season.”
The high opening numbers certainly secures the franchise as one of the most lucrative in recent years. In fact, all the films in the “Saw” series have managed to generate over $50 million, putting them among the top 5 all-time highest total gross for Lionsgate.
Finishing second this weekend was Disney’s “Dan In Real Life” starring Steve Carell, Juliette Binoche, and Dane Cook raking in an estimated $12 million.
Others in the top five include: “30 Days Of Night,” “The Game Plan,” and ‘Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married?”
